Arrow Free Funeral!!

From the Rome News-Tribune...

Funeral home offering free burial for those who plan to drink, drive on New Year’s Eve

A local funeral home is doing what it can to keep people from drinking and driving on New Year’s Eve.

Between now and noon on Thursday, drivers can visit McGuire, Jennings and Miller Funeral Home on North Broad Street and sign a contract stating they plan to drink or use drugs and drive on New Year’s Eve. If they are then killed in a wreck while operating a vehicle on Thursday, the funeral home will bury them for free.

Services they pledge to provide include a casket, grave space, limousine and preparation of remains.

Funeral home officials said the program, called “Operation Stop and Think” is designed to save lives by making people think before they act.
Well, it won't be me...

Someone shared about that at our meeting last night during the announcements.

Made me think about how many second chances God gave me. Something tells me if I was stupid enough to sign up for a deal like this, surely my luck would run out!

Yeah, I read about in our local paper. I'm working tomorrow, but get off at 8 and am hoping to be home and off the roads, safely, before someone decides they can drink/use and drive.

Hugs and prayers!

I'm thinking it's a good way to get free publicity
for the funeral home as well as giving the local
police a list of possible law breakers...

I too hope everyone planning to drink and drug
stay the heck home.....

Sounds kind of gruesome to me. Of course any publicity is good publicity. I would be a smart a$$ and sign up for it. I would like to see their reaction. lol

I'm not leaving the house tomorrow. Here in NM, New Years Eve is the craziest night of the year. The city is even keeping the buses on until 1 am FOR FREE just so people won't drive.

My friend was killed by a drunk driver on Thanksgiving. He was only 33.

Grateful a funeral home and cemetery has come up with this 'stop and think' action -- maybe the drunks who end up registering may realize what road they're taking is headed into the grave. Truly sobering.

I'd rather they offer the free funeral to the people he/she may kill, but I guess I get the point.

powerful message

these funeral home people have probably buried many young people who have died from drug & alcohol-related incidents/accidents, but they are still not immune to the pain that it causes to those of us left behind. i think this is a powerful message from the funeral home, reminding us of the dangers of impaired driving.
