HALT and other helpful acronyms/sayings.
Hi everyone,
I've learned quite a bit here by lurking and some of the acronyms, sayings, and words of wisdom have really helped me to identify ways to control my actions via my thoughts (rather than the reverse).
Could you share your favorites with us in this thread?
HALT is one I use often
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired
I just heard this last night.
AAA
Alert (Recognize the negative thought, "I want to drink")
Avoid (Do a 180 in action to remove yourself from temptation)
Affirm (Tell yourself, "I am just fine without a drink.")
Thanks

Think, think, think, think, think...i quite like that one too!
Remind me of the television program the office (US version)...
Michael (manager) says to dwight (salesman) what is the most important thing i have taught you? Dwight says not to be stupid! Then he explains that when he is thinking of doing something he asks himself the question would a stupid person do that and if the answer is yes then he does not do that thing
