Been Back Again

Hi All,

I hope you are all not bored of me but a quick update on my story.

Been daily drinker 10 or more years and usually consumed 10 pints a night and also smoked.

After panic attack and tingles in arm 44 nights ago decided to give up drinking and smoking and went cold turkey (did notice i was becoming short with kids and wife etc).

Have had all the withdrawals symptoms (first 3/4 days usual sweats, loss appitite, not sleeping etc)

After 1st week went to doctors (1st time and explained alcohol problem) complaining of tingling/twitching and pulse/headaches also anxiety.

Been back to doctors and had blood tests Liver (high) & Kidney (high found out today) and have had another one today for my Kidney (thought it was ment to be my liver until today) also have been back on a number of occassions complaing of anxiety and headaches and they (seen 3/4 different doctors) and they keep saying alcohol withdrawal. (Doc recommended going to opticians as they look behind the eyes for other problems which i have done and had new specs)

Went to docs today to get more tablets for anxiety and again streessed to doctor that its now 44 days and i am still having and my main concern is these tension/headaches (and now my kidneys as of today) and he was more worried about giving me more tablests for my anxiety as they could become addicitive. I know all recoverys are different and doctors may have heared my story a 101 times but doctor as ever said wht maybe causing them, how long they may last etc

Just wanted to get off my chest as little worried afte over 6 weeks sober

I admit the following.

Eating much better,
Tingling/twitching has slowed down a lot (maybe tablets)
Sleeping a better
Dont feel sick in mornings anymore really
Dont really think of drinking

However

Constant Pulse/Headaches still there
Aches and pains still there a bit
Anxiety/motivation/negative thoughts still there

Carol is right, for me it took about 2/2.5 months to feel my body balancing out... No one likes withdraw... but you can get through it... If your six weeks clean you are probably past the worst physically... I know that my deppression was worst about that time... since 2.5 months clean its really really lessened... You can do it...

With Metta,

Clayton

I remember quitting smoking... it was horrible. But to quit both cigarette and alcohol addictions at once and sustain it for over six weeks? Give yourself a lot credit my friend, because most people would cave in after a few days. The brightest upside that you've listed is that you don't really think of drinking anymore. Big plus!

Anyway, I wish you the best in your recovery and long term health.
