Jokingly I think to myself, "he'll probably wait until he gets caught for one of these incidents to confirm his suspicions of an alcohol problem..."

See the light my friend, see the light.

Welcome to SR and our Alcoholism Forum

Only you can decide if drinking is worth the
problems it is causeing you.

Alcohol is a toxinand causes damage to
both your brain and body.
That's true for all drinkers...not just alcoholics.

Glad you are here with us...
Blessings to you and your family

I noticed your join date was November 2007. You must have thought back then there was a problem. Maybe you just haven't hit your bottom. My belief is if you think you have a problem well, you probably do. Normal drinkers don't think they have a problem with alcohol.

I had to experience enough pain before I was ready to hit AA. Problem drinkers are usually the last one to see the problem, and must experience this pain first hand. Too bad I could not learn the lesson from the mistakes suffered by others ... would have been much less misery down the stretch. Trust me, I too have scars on my face, 1 DWI, a divorce and kids moved to another state with my ex, 5 nights in jail for 5 different arrests, lots of lost friends and lovers. It will catch up to you, usually in a flash when you least expect it, and then you too will say "if only I quit drinking before this happened"...

Welcome rivelino,
Sounds like you might want to get a handle on this thing before your whole world is destroyed by alcohol.

You say you have a problem with the drink, but not sure if you are an alcoholic.

Only you can say if you are an alcoholic or not. It sounds like you'd be better off without alcohol in your life. Have you tried to quit before?

Quitting can actually be dangerous if you are dependent on alcohol. Have you spoken with a doctor about this?

Here's the BIG question: Do you want to quit drinking?

Are you going to heed the warnings now, and stop before you have major trouble....or....keep going untill a real disaster tears your life apart?

This disease is progressive and fatal. Alcoholism leads to death, jails, or institutions. Getting sober is the only way to stop this progressive downward spiral.

I hope you can find some help and strength here.

Believe hit it right on the head: normal people don't think that they are alcoholics. I'd suggest that you try a few AA meetings. I think you'll find your answer there. And I wish you luck
