Detox tips

Im giving up the drinking. Its not an option anymore its a necessity. Im doing it.

However I'm struggling with the detox. Before you tell me I should go to a doctor. I know that. But Im not going to.

My withdrawl symptoms include loss of apetite, depression, complex partial seizures, DT's, and mood swings.

Based on this, and because of previous medical advice, I have decided not to 'just stop' the doctors have told me this is very dangerous. So I am weening down slowly. But I am determined because I have realised the imminant importance.

What I am looking for is not 'you need to see a doctor'. I am looking for practical tips on minimising withdrawl symptoms.

Ie. Ive heard VitaminB is useful as is being well hydrated.

Please help.

What he said, detoxing (and especially when you are having seizures) is very dangerous, even life threatening, without medical supervision.

So I'm not giving you what you want either, because the only good advice is to see your doctor.

3 out of 3 man - I detoxed without a doctor and I'm still dealing with the effects two years later.

Part of a good recovery is being responsible - and facing up to fear, and some things we don't want to do.

I know Aussie and Kiwi blokes hate doing it, but see a Dr.
Your list of symptoms is just too big to stuff around with, mate.

I have withdrawn slowly without medical supervision and it was hell, BUT if I had had
complex partial seizures
I would have got medical help immediately!

Why not ask your Doc for home detox if you don't want to go to a detox centre?

Definitely, see a doctor.

None of this is going to be easy and part of recovery, is doing things you don't want to do, in order to change your life for the better.

Hi again........

My withdrawl symptoms include loss of apetite, depression, complex partial seizures, DT's, and mood swings.
All the above are very serious medical issues.

to give advice on such matters.

From our SR guidelines....

Detox can be dangerous and life threatening at times. Please consult with your physician.
It's not going to be so simple as take a vitamin and drink water....
only a doctor can assess what is required for you.

I certainly hope you will reconsider ..the life you save is your own.

Prayers coming your way

I'm not sure what Carol is saying here. No one asked for medical advice and one gave any other than "see a doctor". Carol said "only a doctor can assess..." which is the same advice given by the rest of the members. I must be missing something.

I will repeat Rusty with one addition:

not going to give you what you want,

going to give you what yet again you need to hear..

see a doc!

i did it the self-detox, and i almost died!

why, because yet again...

i wanted to do things my way!

I DID DIE

The Time Of Death was being written on my medical chart in the emergency room when my heart started on its own.

Detox is not to be taken lightly. DO NOT do it alone, have someone with you, in case you do start to seizure and dehydrate that someone can call for an ambulance or get you to the ER.

J M H O

Love and hugs,

I stopped or rather had no money for a day or two and had a seizure in the street.
the up shot was i bit off a the outer edge of my tougue and apparently was choking on the blood........not nice but i got to tell you this stuff.
i have a nice serated edge to my tougue now to remind me.

If you wanna stop.. do youself a favour and dont risk it without medication or better still hospital..or there a good chance your get into serious complications.

7 days ish.......and your done normally.
