Heavy drinking + very bloated face.
Hello. I drank about 20 shots of vodka in the past 48 hours and just now I cared to look at me in the mirror and my face is very larger, very chubby and disgusting. My face always get bloated when I use to binge alot, but not that much. Did this ever happen to any of you guys !? I admit many of you are sober, I hope to join the sobriety club soon. Thanks

Welcome to SR. All I can say is that, when I was drinking, I tried NOT to look in the mirror. Because if I did, I would only see regret and shame staring back at me.

Glad to see you again but sorry you are still drinking.
Please try again for sobriety.
Drinking made me detest the woman in my mirror.
That's why I joined AA and started recovery.

yep, when binging, my face would get bloated & become very blushed in the cheeks - - i could chew on a hundred certs - but that big damn red face was a dead giveaway to my girlfriend - finally my face began to just stay that way - md at rehab said that drinking was stressing capillaries in my face - since i've stopped drinking redness is much better - a few more binges may have made it permanent-- dr also said that the face was visible, but i was stressing the interior of all my veins - arteries & capillaries - weakening them from the inside out & once they start bursting, it's better if they pop in my skin, rather than in my brain or esophagus or stomach - i thought he was just trying to scare me, but i guess that is how jack kerouac died - when he was 47

I was getting the alcoholic red nose syndrome, which is from busted blood veins from alcohol abuse. I hated looking at myself but 18 months of sobriety have turned my nose back into the "cute button nose" it always was and I am greatful for that!

when I started drinking my face would only be puffy and bloated after a really bad hangover. But right before I quit drinking in January, my face started staying puffy all day long. I remember getting freaked out looking in the mirror in the mornings .
I have been sober since january 15, 2009 and I am happy to say that my face is back to normal.

Since I quit drinking I have had a lot of people comment on how much better I look, that I look "less puffy". The redness from capillary damage is gone now for the most part. I can only imagine what it was doing to the rest of my body, and the capllaries and tissues I CANT see... eek.
