Quit 28 days ago...now I'm getting fat

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have experienced over eating after quitting? Also, I have been craving a good online gambling fix. Fortunately, the credit cards won't let me do it. I think it's called 'switching'.

I want to workout to get healthy, but I have a bad achilles and that prevents me from a lot of cardio activity. I think I'm having trouble filling time or something, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I want to feel good about not drinking on the weekends instead I've shifted to caffeine, sugar, fatty foods, etc.

On top of everything, I'm considering changing cities/jobs and moving my family again (with a 2nd kid on the way). Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've always had a problem with food, so I'm usually over-eating, anyways. This time around I'm going to work on one thing at a time...hopefully I'll get this problem in check, too. When I try to do everything at once, I crash and burn. Maybe you can start by cutting some things out slowly, or at least start to slowly lessen the amount you consume.

In early sobriety your body just totally craves all those carbs so I don't think there is much you can do but wait it out. After about 2 months everything started balancing out for me and as my liver and my mind returned to normal so did my crazy eating!

Glad you are not drinking...well done on your sober time...

I too balanced out physically and mentally around 2 months sober.
I also followed an eating plan + supplements recommended in my
favorite book on alcoholism...."Under The Influence"

You might want to ask your doctor about hypoglycemia
It can be a result of alcoholism.

Moving? I certainly would be causcious during this time
of economic cut backs. Apparently your finances are
not fluid either or your credit cards would not be maxed.

Bored in sobriety? I find AA is an awesome adventure
in sober living. It's inexpensive too..

Blessings to you and your family...

I have a craving to over-indulge in EVERYTHING that I like.

For me, identification and admittance of a problem is 90% of the battle.

I realize the problem, and I work to correct it.

Maybe it will work for you.

plenty of

fruit and veg. Carrot and celery sticks are a great low fat snack and so good for you. Green tea can also help your body break down fat and it's also low in caffiene. I just came back from a 1 hour walk (in the snow) and even though I did over indulge at dinner I feel a lot less bloated.
