A Long Winter

I've had some struggles this year. Lost my dog, got ill and found I was addicted to a benzo and have been suffering lots of anxiety. Started drinking again and am feeling done with it after a severe panic attack from a little binge. Am on day three. Just wanted to check in and find some support.

You want support then you got it! I'm right there in the trenches with you batling it out as well. Only on day one after getting knocked off the horse. Anything you feel you're not alone in!

Welcome back to SR GirlyGirl! My condolances on your dog.

Glad to hear you are back on the wagon, so what are you going to do different this time to stay sober?

Thats the thing to do , pick up recovery where you left off, and try something diffrent so you don't continue the cycle. Main thing is don't give up..

Take care,
John

Hi Girly!

You CAN DO THIS!! I continue to be amazed every day by the support here on this site. There's a lot of wisdom here. You know what you need to do... Immerse yourself in AA and really WORK the program... Keep coming back here, too! So glad you're back!

This winter in MN has been long! The end is here. I was just mowing my lawn and the Mrs. has been working in the garden.

Hang in there!

I'm going to get back to meetings and get a sponsor and actually get past Step 4. Hey, I might just do all 12!

Thumbs up

Many AA members had to relapse several times before they were able to surrender. There is no shame in it. Welcome back.

Welcome back. I started drinking again several years ago after getting hooked on benzos. You can do this - I'm glad you've got a plan in place. Make sure you follow it - and keep checking in.

The steps were the real key to having the drink problem lifted, I will be honest and say I have never heard of anyone that did steps 4 & 5 not finish the rest, I am sure it has happened though.

The most important thing to remember is that when we have done all 12 steps it does not mean we have graduated or are cured, completion of the steps is merely the beginning of a beautiful journey as long as we continue to practice these principles in all of our affairs on a daily basis.

Girly girl,

Welcome back! Do not be hard on yourself just come up with a plan and work it! Remember insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. :-)

Good luck!
