Going to AA meetings is a definite good thing. I go to them often for a little ESH, its good for the mind and spirit.
Remember, your friends don't have to live with you. You have to live with you. If you are happier not drinking, so be it. Remeber, drinking like a maniac is playing with fire. Physical dependency is not a fun dance.

Me and friends went out to a bar and I'm proud to say I didn't drink, even with everyone around me drinking.
