My Best Friend is Going to Die
I just had to write this today. My friend of 16 years is losing her fight with cancer. There is nothing else they can do.
My heart is broke. She is the only one that stuck by me in my hard times. This is going to be hard but I am going to help her as much as I can.
She is the only sober friend I have ever had. Well she has been my only friend after I quit drinking. All the others faded away.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My uncle died in Nov. from cancer...he'd only found out he had it 6 weeks earlier. I was very grateful that I was clean and could be there for my family, and they could be there for me. Hugs and prayers to you and your friend.

I'm truly sorry to hear this. I lost my mom to cancer about 2 years ago after a two year battle. It was probably the worst experience in my short life. This is very difficult, just remember the good times you had with your friend....I killed my sorrow with booze & drugs, ended up in rehab thank god. Now I'm working on myself and taking care of mom's dogs to make her proud. Do what would make your friend proud, thats what I do everyday for mom. god bless.

I was feeling lost because my friend is always the first person I called when I needed someone to talk to. But I cannot talk to her about this right now.

Hey there, Comet. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I had a friend like that who stood by me during some very hard times. She died a few days after last Christmas. Knowing how that feels, please accept my condolences and I hope you can make the most of the time left. I will send some prayers along for your friend and for you too.

Comet, I am so sorry about your friend's diagnosis. Prayers going out to you. You should have some support for yourself. Perhaps you should think about attending AA if you don't already. You will meet many sober people who care.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. In 2000, I lost me life-long best friend to cancer. He was 33. When he told me that he wasn't going to live, I asked him if there was anything I could do for him (I was trying to be strong for him but falling apart inside). He told me to come over to his house and make him laugh. As heartbreaking as those final days with him were, I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

Thanks so much for all of your advice.
Going to visit her this weekend. Hope I get the crying out of the way before I see her. I lost my husband to cancer in 1990 and I see her trying to cope like he did. And it is sad to hear her say the same things as my husband.
She is just worried about everybody else. My husband said to, that he felt bad for leaving me.
