Discounting how many accidents involved with drunk driving .
1 is far too many.
What we do to ourselves with our drinking, it's bad enough, what we do to innocent people, is unacceptable

I should have been in jail in Va. if I had only been caught for even 1 time out of a 100 times I drove drunk.
In Va. they quit playing games with DUIs years ago, you do not hear of anyone getting more then 3 of them without spending time in jail and if you get more then 3 you are also getting charged with driving without a license!!!
I know a group of folks with 2 DUIs that may not see a license again for at least 2 years, I know a lady that after her 2nd DUI will not see her license for 5 years.
In Va. today people even go to prison over DUIs.
Do I have a problem with it? Nope, it was simply by the Grace of God that I did not kill myself or someone else due to my driving drunk. I only had one DUI and that was over 20 years before I quit drinking, my last 10 years of drinking I would drink driving home from work and not leave the house most of the time, there were a few times where I could hardly walk and drove. One time it took me 10 minutes to simply get into my truck, then I spent another 10 minutes listening to the radio thinking that would let me sober up!!!
How I got home without at least me going into the ditch I do not know.
If I had been caught then I would have pleaded guilty because I was wrong.
A DUI is what many of us need to open our eyes, for some of us that is no where near enough.
If a DUI and harsh penalties results in even one person getting sober before they kill someone then it is well worth it.

Many of us on here should be counting our blessings.
If, we'd of gotten what we deserved, most of us would be locked up.
The point now is to convince people not to drink and drive!!
