being unemployed
being unemployed
I just got the word today that this saturday is my last day at work. Seems they are cutting employees hours and I am one of them. I am not surprised at this and will be able to collect unemployment. I am not happy about this but I did not go wacko or anything like that. Being sober and doing the steps have helped so I can know that this is not the end of the world and so on. This does not make me want to drink or anything like that.

I can see both bad and good from your thread.
Yes being w/o a job is difficult
but you will have time to work on your recovery.
I found a totally different field to train/work in by telling
everyone in my AA group I was looking. Networking is
a wise move in my experience.
You did not get fired so
you can use them for a refference.
You also sound positive and that is a huge plus.
Please keep in touch...we do understand ..

R4outoo this stuff happens in life, the main difference is sober you will be able to get as Carol said a good reference and be able to maintain focus on your recovery, get the word out in meetings about where you are at right now. I know numerous people who have found same darn good jobs via the fellowship, sometimes it is nothing more then someone saying "Hey I heard so&so is hiring to someone in the fellowship owning a business and hiring someone.
Turn this over, this does not mean to sit on your can and wait for your HP to drop a job in your lap, but to take the actions your HP leads you to do to get another job.

You know, I have expected to lose my job almost every day for the last 6 months (industry has turned sour, I have been with current employer for over 6 years). I talked to my sponsor about this and his take was:
"Great, you can spend more time carrying the message. All things happen for a reason, though we don't always know what it is."
Best of luck.
