I like polls too!!
I use a combo of things.
1) I don't pick up no matter what.
2) I read everyday about alcoholism...this gives me more knowledge about alcoholism and the many different views of it.
3) I come here....lots of wise words to be found
4) I exercise...another huge bonus of not drinking you can workout!
5) I attend AA meetings
But most of all I believe in myself and I believe that God gave me all the tools I need to lead a beautiful life, he believes in me so why shouldn't I?

AA influence got me started many years ago but it took me reading the bible and accepting the Lord to find true sobriety.
So along with prayer and the Lord's strength that fills me...
I stay sober by not picking up that first one on a daily bases.

Best,
What you say is very true for me as well. I grew up as a boy soprano in my church in a mens choir.
One of the first things I did when I moved was to re-connect with my church and I auditioned and joined the choir here (as a Bass now).
It is very important for me not only to participate, but to have made a firm commitment so that I will be less likely to stray.
I need structure today, and thank God I am finding it.

Well I tried every which way for 10 years and kept getting drunk again, I kept at this until I was either constantly drunk or trying to get drunk.
Detox followed by AA mettings, AA service work, AA steps, & AA sponsor.
Life is good today, I owe it all to AA helping me to find a Higher Power of my understanding and helping me to live life today on lifes terms and not on alcohols terms!

AA for me too. I go to 5 meetings a week, and more if I need them. I do service at 2 of the meetings.
I'm trying to find a sponsor, and also start to see a pyschaitrist soon, which I'm hoping will strengthn my sobreity, and I've been feeling pretty wobbly lately.
Today is day 327 sober.
