No more drivin for me!
No more drivin for me!
Hi Guys and Gals,
My car broke. Rear swing arm. Old Volvo with 270,000+ miles. Not worth fixin.
Junker took it away today.
Good thing too 'cause I still don't have my licence.
This was something I really needed to get honest about and now HP has forced me to.
Feels like a relief though, I actually feel more at ease because the whole driving thing is no-longer hanging over my head.
I do have a decent bicycle and can pedal to work easily. Maybe I'll take the money I got from the junk man and buy a motor for the bike!
Well see...
Ted
Still sober + free!

I rode the bus the last 2 months to work. I also bummed rides to meetings or rode my bike.
My 2001 hyundai had thrown a timing belt. The valves met the pistons and they had a little party inside my engine.
Some fellow AAs loaned me the money finally ($1400.00) and I'm driving again. I will never, ever, in a million years, complain about that car. It beats walking.

I sold my last car over 2 years ago.
Yes...I have a licence. Had one since '49.
But when you can't see the other vehicles coming
Several unexpected benefits....
I save money
i am friendly with neighbors who drive
My son and I meet Weds. for errands and fun
My AA friends get to do practice personal service work
I have yet to miss a darn thing I wanted to do!

Yokay, that was lucky, methinks. Car was towed away before Ted was towed away. Thanks for phone message, glad to know. Like I said, 'tho I was worried, wasn't gonna harrass you about it. Was impressed that your sponsor and his roomie got on your case. Most kind and caring of them.

Hey Ted,
I'm without a car right now. Brakes or something and haven't wanted to ask the ex to check..but, I finally did and he will so hopefully it'll be back soon.
But, I've been looking at it like this: I'm not working so I really don't have to worry about it now, and can fix it when I'm able. A has a vehicle..so it's all good. It's a blessing that my piece of crap chose NOW to have problems, rather than when I really really needed it for work!
There's a few financial amends I've been needing to start making..and it's hanging over my head. I'm glad that you don't have your problem weighing on yours now.

Hi Groucho,
I needed to read your thread...I lost my right to drive and it is not as difficult as I thought it would be...
The greatest feeling is I don't have a problem getting to meetings, plus I am saving money...no car payment and insurance which that cost was off the wall...
