Hello :)

Hi everyone, I don't think I have posted is this part of the forum so thought I would start a little thread and say hello and tell you a little bit about myself.

I started drinking when I was 14, I also had my first blackout when I was 14, I guess I should have realised then that alcohol was not my friend. I assumed everybody drank like I did, it is only now 22 years later that I have discovered that they don't! Oh my, 22 years thats a long time, I have never worked out how long I drank for before :/

Anyway, I finally realised that I drank to much about a year and a half ago and decided that I should quit, although I will admit until recently I don't think I really wanted to. Now for the first time ever I actually don't want to drink, I have come to realise that any positive gains, and recently I can't actually think of many, are far out numbered by negative ones.

So here I am 10 days sober, the last month has been horendous to be honest but yesterday and so far today I am beginning to feel a little more human again and actually quite excited about my new life

Anyway enough of my ramberling, I would just like to thank you all as reading this forum has definatly helped me alot.

Sax

Hi again Sax.

Are you going to go to AA or look at any other types of recovery program?
I spent the last 6 months trying to quit and its only since I started going to AA that I have had any real sober time, only 45 days but thats way better than I was doing previously.

I hope to see you in bottoms soon Sax!

Thank you everyone,

I am not going to AA at the moment, I am not sure that is the right way for me. At the moment I am reading books that I have found and I find that very helpfull, I feel knowledge is a very helpfull tool for me and of course this site. If I feel I will pick up a drink I am not oposed to AA but I would find it difficult to attend meetings regularly.

Thanks for the link Carol, under the influence is one book I have bought allready.
