If you are struggling to drink, please read...
Last night my friend called me and told me on thursday night that him and his buddies went out and got pretty rowdy. At bar close they were deciding on who was driving and my, friend decided to be responsible for once (Thank God) and was like lets take a cab. Three of his buddies decided to drive instead, and on the way home, which was so close to the bar, they hit an 18 wheeler and now are all brain dead. I just wanted to share about what the disease of alcohol can do to ANY of us.

i guess the really sad thing about this story is that even after hearing about it, some of us will still take another drink thinking this wont happen to me. (myself included) its so scary, this tiem i have been sober just over a week and i am scared to death...i need to continue to hear these stories to remind me that I am no different and that could be me if i pick up a drink today!
my daughter is struggling in her recovery, laurenlania. she lost her license this year after a second dui. i am so grateful she cannot drive. and i still hide my car keys when she is around..

its so hard for me this time around, after having continuous sobriety for 3 1/2 years, i think i know it all i'm really trying to keep an open mind and refrain from using the statement 'i know" One day at a time for me and that is about all i can do and saying the serenity prayer. good luck to you with your daughter!

I've drinken drunk so many times. I've been very fortunate to have no DUI's or accidents under my belt. Grace of God. It's another huge reason I want to stop drinking forever. Not as worried about myself but that I could kill someone else. Thank you for this reminder today.
In the years I tended bar - 31 people (customers, friends, lover) died.
Seven, in the first 4 months of sobriety.
It is a fatal disease; treatable ... but progressive in nature and indiscriminant.
thanks for the reiminder.

I am sorry to hear about this.
The disease of alcoholism CAN do this to any one of us....even if we are not the one drinking and driving; or our loved one. Let's not forget the driver of the 18-wheeler,either or all the families and loved ones.
Thanks for the reminder.
