HBO's Addiction Series
HBO's Addiction Series
Hi,
I recently bought the 4 CD series from HBO called Addiction.
http://www.hbo.com/addiction/
It's really interesting. There are 14 episodes.
It's in documentary format.
The producers speak to a lot of users, and they also
speak to the specialists in addiction recovery.
There is a LOT of good info in this set. And it's $25.
I really felt like drinking tonite. I was thinking "just a little, no bid deal.".
But i know it's just BS rationalizations. And my other thoughts are
"You told yourself you wouldn't, no matter what. You knew this was
gonna happen."
So, i worked out. And when i came home, i watched some of this DVD.
It really does help me, just to get back into the mindset of how
dangerous playing with these cravings are, how it's never led me to
happiness. And it shares with me that there is a whole industry of people
who make their living off of treating people for addiction.
That between 10-15% of americans are addicted to alcohol.
I don't even know that statistics for the other drugs.
It can only be big business and support thousands of people's lives
if it really does negatively affect so many people.
So, after getting all that info, it does help damper the cravings, helps
them go away.
Another piece of info i got from this series is one professor of addiction
neuroscience said "In AA, they say '90 meetings in 90 days'.
Well, that was a very wise statement. Because now there is now neurological
evidence that the brain really does need 90 days to begin to move away
from strong cravings.' ".
thanks for reading.
