Very Scared
OK, I really want to get sober, but I am not sure phically what to expect and if I will get through it. Could really use some advise and help.
Wish I had a clue how to navigate within this site and find someone to talk to and get advise.
Any reply welcomed

hi steve,
you came to the right place.
all the people here are focused on dealing with our addictions and recovering.
all of us have been very scared when we realized how out of control everything was getting.
You asked for information on how to navigate this site, and resources:
1st, you'll get lots of posts from knowledgeable people on this thread. just keep checking.
Here's a list of resources on this site:

Hi Steve and welcome to SR.
The advice I got when I first came to SR was to seek medical advice. So make an appointment to see your doctor. Depending on the amount you were drinking, quitting on your own can be dangerous.
I am pleased you are here and that you want to get sober.

Hey Steve.
Seems like we've both decided to pack in the booze at the same time. I'm halfway through day one and sitting here sweating profusely watching my fingers shake. It ain't good.
I'm going to the doctors this week to get some advice and have a health check, I reckon that would be a good start.
Stay in touch, let me know how you're getting on.

in addition to the good advice here, eating sweets seemed to help me out too. Sounds silly, but I've heard other people say the same thing. Chocolate seemed to calm me down a bit as I went about the business of doing all the other stuff to be sober.....

Welcome Steve,
I've been sober almost 7 months now...whew, what a ride so far. I would not have made it through tho first few months without AA meetings (lots of them) and lots of reading and posting on SR.
