Thumbs up Support for ya all! Day 6, isn't the first week the worst :)

In withdrawl symptoms it should be, if you're MENTALLY SET and got a goal after the first week and you haven't failed once... it just keeps getting easier eh?

Yo ya all alcoholics who think they can't stop, just look at all my past messages on my history and you'll see how many times I tried, AA/rehab isn't always the answer, god doesn't give you the power to stop, you or medication gives you the power to stop. Either way, no matter what path you choose, it's good to stop it ASAP, plus I'm stopping alcohol AND nicotine, and I'm pretty young, only 21.

Don't feel thwarted everyone, try your best, and if you're gonna keep drinking fine, do what you feel will make you happy... but if you get to the point where drinking isn't doing anything GOOD for you in the attitude/mind like where I got to, that's where it's time to stop. The way to stop is up to you of course, good luck! =)

Paulos, good job on 6 days. Keep it up!

I think there are as many ways to recovery as there are types of people/preferences. AA was mine. I'm glad you found something to work for you!

Hugs,
Kellye

Indeed. Now I'm not saying I'm invicible on my campaign, but I'm doing as well as a human can do. That's all we can ask of ourselves >=)

Bravo! Keep us posted!

I found the physcial symptoms lessening, after the first week. Namely, I could sleep far better.

My first week was a living hell. It wasn't the first time either. Thank God it was (God willing) the last.

I re-read my post from time to time to remind me. You can see it here:

Hang in there, it gets better ! I'm picking up my 6 month chip here soon.

A little after the first month. The fog lifts slowly. Even at almost 6 months, I still get "brain farts" on occasion.

After the initial de-tox passes, it's a gradual process.

Thumbs up

I don’t want to discourage you, but for me, some of the mid-teenage years were the worst. Then again, they don’t have to be. And they were not as bad as they probably would have been had I been drinking during them!

Keep at it. It was worth it for me!

Sounds like you almost got the physical part over with Paulos, you are just starting into what I found to be the hardest part, getting over the mental part of it.

The part where I started to get real cocky, I would start thinking to my self "Oh yea, I am the man!!!! I beat it all by myself!!!"

Next thing I knew I was telling myself "Good night, there is no way I am an alcoholic, I have not had a drink for 2 weeks. I am not at all like those weak willed alcoholics, I can have a drink or 2 and control it."

Good luck Paulos, just keep in mind this is not a 2 or 3 week deal, this is not even a one year deal.

If you are an alcoholic this is a life long process, I am an alcoholic and I know that even if I go 10 years with out a drink, that if I have one drink it will be as though I had never stopped and I will be off to the races again.

I am rooting for you Paulos, I really hope that 6 months from now you will come on hear and say "Well Tazman I have not had a single drink or any other mind altering drugs for 6 months and I did it without any one elses help (As long as you do not count SR)" Then I will stand up here and say "Paulos is the man, he did what I, nor millions of other alcoholics could not do, he quit with out the help of a single other person (Except SR)"
