I almost laughed...
I went to a meeting on Sunday afternoon with a friend who has been having a very hard time recently, and was returning to AA after a spell drinking. This man needed to hear the message of recovery.
What he heard was a general "war-story" share, then a rant from one of the other attendees which contained two usefull pieces of information.
The first was that this guy had been attending AA for 24 years, and had recently had words with someone who was trying (in his opinion) to tell him that he needed to change the way he was doing his AA. No-one has the right to tell me what to do he says. I'm doing it my way and it's working fine for me.
The second was that he was four months sober.
If you can't be a good example you can always be a dire warning.
