Songs about addiction and recovery (post your recommendations!)
I'm making a cd based on addiction and recovery...here are some of the songs I have so far.
K's Choice - Not An Addict
Nickleback - Figured You Out
Keith Urban - Not My God
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Edit: Also, I just added:
Requiem For A Dream Soundtrack - Main Theme (gives me chills every time!!)
Jefferson Airplane - Go Ask Alice
Yeah, I need some more, so post away! I listen to just about anything - punk, metal, alt rock, indie rock, country, pop rock, doesn't matter.

I just heard John Pryne's "Illegal smile" a few minutes ago..I was thinking about a thread like this.
Savoy Brown "Needle and spoon"
Neil Young "Needle and the damage done"
Lynard Skynard "The needle and the spoon" "Poison Whisky" "That smell"
Alice in Chains "Goin down the steps on a white line" ( I told the doctor thank you very much can I borrow fifty bucks?)
Guns and Roses "Mr Brownstone" "Ain't it fun?"
Guns and Roses "Don't damn me" ( listen to this close its about doing a 4th step "I put the pen to the paper cuz' its all a part of me")
Jackyl "Brain Drain"
Godsmack "******"
The Who "Behind blue eyes" ( c'mon did i really think that i was the only one they were talking to when they said "no one knows what it's like to be the sad man"?)
I think that it's very interesting that we are passionate people who don't feel free to express our emotions and all these years had to settle for allowing the poets and troubadors to do it for us.

Peace Train
Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train
Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you
Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true
Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country
This is a great song for me. Since I started working the 12 steps I feel like I am riding this peace train. I ride the Don't Quit bus also. Love to all my brothers & sisters in Recovery. We Rock! like dotcom would say.

BRAIN DAMAGE
PINK FOYD
DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
THE LUNATIC IS ON THE GRASS
THE LUNATIC IS ON THE GRASS
REMEMBERING GAMES AND DAISY CHAINS AND LAUGHS
GOT TO KEEP THE LOONIES ON THE PATH
THE LUNATIC IS IN THE HALL
THE LUNATICS ARE IN MY HALL
THE PAPER HOLDS THEIR FOLDED FACES TO THE FLOOR
AND EVERY DAY THE PAPER BOY BRINGS MORE
AND IF THE DAM BREAKS OPEN MANY YEARS TOO SOON
AND IF THERE IS NO ROOM UPON THE HILL
AND IF YOUR HEAD EXPLODES WITH DARK FORBODINGS TOO
I’LL SEE YOU ON THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
THE LUNATIC IS IN MY HEAD
THE LUNATIC IS IN MY HEAD
YOU RAISE THE BLADE, YOU MAKE THE CHANGE
YOU RE-ARRANGE ME ‘TILL I’M SANE
YOU LOCK THE DOOR
AND THROW AWAY THE KEY
THERE’S SOMEONE IN MY HEAD BUT IT’S NOT ME
AND IF THE CLOUD BURSTS, THUNDER IN YOUR EAR
YOU SHOUT AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HEAR
AND IF THE BAND YOUR’E IN STARTS PLAYING DIFFERENT TUNES
I’LL SEE YOU ON THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.
THIS ALBUM ROCKS.....STAY STRONG ted :band

I am listening John Lennon while I am Cleaning out cabinets, long overdue.
Who says you can't Rock in recovery.
Instant Karma
John Lennon
Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin' to do
It's up to you, yeah you
Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin'
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughin' at fools like me
Who in the hell d'you think you are
A super star
Well, right you are
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Ev'ryone come on
Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you off your feet
Better recognize your brothers
Ev'ryone you meet
Why in the world are we here
Surely not to live in pain and fear
Why on earth are you there
When you're ev'rywhere
Come and get your share
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine on
Come on and on and on on on
Yeah yeah, alright, uh huh, ah
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine on
On and on and on on and on
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
