Because there are absolutely no advantages to drinking alcohol. None. Whatever we were told by society about it while growing up (relaxes, social pastime, liquid courage, de-stresses, tastes good, feels good, etc.) is a load of hogwash passed down from a society that is addicted to the drug on a macro-level and from greedy companies who profit off the sale of it (the "drink responsibly" portions of alcohol ads are seriously a riot).

I'll only be worse for drinking it, just like anyone who consumes it.

I didn't drink today because if I did, I'd be off again....not sure if or when I could manage to stop.

The other day a thought came to me, Why not have a drink, luckily my head was in a good space and I let the idea drift by. Taking that first drink today would not help anything get better.

Because honestly I cannot be assured that a drink, or 4 drinks, will ever be enough. I don't like feeling out of control, or the brutal hangovers that follow. I do like the steady improvements I'm getting each day I move farther away from drinking.

Because I am a non-drinker, by that I mean I never drink alcohol, ever. I love the taste of clean, cold water.
