Gotta stop cigars. I really have gotten quite used to the ritual, and my husband pushes me to smoke with him for the camaraderie. I feel like a ticking oral cancer time bomb--plus, there is somebody on SR whom I have read is dying now of esophageal cancer. I am really pushing my luck.
I knew somebody once who had cancer of the tongue. The results were not pretty.
Tomorrow will be another Day One for me, Lord willing my last.

I do want to stop, Brain. My secret goal is to wean off of coffee, too, then whiten my teeth a shade (or three).
Congratulations on a week, Zip!
Hanging around SR was probably the pivotal thing in helping me stay committed to stopping drinking. I'll hang around this thread the same way.
Official day one!

Gilmer - Welcome back to this thread!!
Speaking of whitening teeth... this is almost one of those things from my past that makes me cringe to remember, but I didn't go to the dentist for like 8 years when I was drinking, etc. By the end, I had so much black tar built up on the back of my teeth that I was completely mortified to have to open my mouth for them when I did finally go to the dentist after getting sober and quitting smoking cigarettes and weed.
I had to go in for two long cleaning sessions for them to get it all, but now my teeth are all nice and clean. And now I go in every six months totally confident because I don't smoke anything and am super careful about flossing/brushing every day.
On that note, 24 more for me.

Congratulations, LBrain!
Day three today. My most tempting time is when I'm upstairs studying. I like to sit propped up in bed with a diet soda and a cigar with the windows open blowing in the spring air.
So I just drink the diet soda and open the window. Tough! It is hard because my husband pressures me to smoke with him. Tough!
Anyway, day 3!
