Avrt

As part of my plan to attack my addiction I went out and bought some reading today. "Rational Recovery" is what I dove into, and WOW! Addict or not it's a pretty good read. The AV is clearly explained with concise instruction on how to shut it down. Addiction itself is explained in a way that I've never heard or thought about before. I'm only about a third of the way through and already I feel so much clearer and stronger about this.

Anyway, it's a great weapon for my arsenal.

Hope all is well,
S

Glad to hear about mounting an attack on the addiction, that book really helped cement things for me. There is a really great thread in the secular forum that goes intot some depth about AVRT.
Onward!
wish you well

AVRT is the approach that made the most sense to me! I have heard that nasty AV loud and clear....and told it to shut up!

Read a lot of books, and there are tons of methods out there...Pick whichever one or bits and pieces of methods that make sense to you....

I really liked the books by Jason Vale and Allen Carr also.

SDH, thanks for sharing your news about AVRT. For me it was so exciting to find a way to explain alcohol addiction that pointed to a simple and empowering solution. In a way, I don't have a lot of experience in quitting alcohol, I've only done it once, and that was back in 2011. But really, once is really all you need.

AVRT is a topic that is discussed frequently in the Secular Connections forum here. There is another thread there, over 2000 posts, that discusses AVRT very thoroughly, it's just a fabulous resource for shared experiences with AVRT.

Hope you drop in to the Secular Connections forum, there is a lot of support for you there, too. Onward!
