Glad you had a great flight Venus! They can either be nightmares or no more exciting than a bus ride.

Suze! I am so thrilled that not only was the flight not hell this time, but the last leg was actually FUN!

I've always heard great things about Qantas.

I also like Qantas kangaroo shaped planes and the way they make gigantic hops as they fly along.

Oh...the last leg was fun....awesome seat mates and wonderful flight attendants.
Gifts were involved...some Qantas PJs and an express check out pass through customs in Melbourne...I was sitting in between two lovely guys in the exit row, and you know me, I made friends, and then we all made friends with the flight attendants, and they loved us. That was actually a lot of fun.

Completely exhausted, but doing fine.

I miss Nick terribly though...really. Even after this short a time.
So glad that you had such a good flight

Hi Goat:
Can you tell me what Melbourne day and time Suze is scheduled to depart.? The only reason I ask is that this continues to be on my mind and it helps me to know, and to cease worrying about her. I'm delighted that all has been going so well. You are doing a wonderful job of taking care of her and I'm so glad she's marrying you!

I was just this second talking to Nick about you.
Thinking about the wonderful suggestions you gave me to help me acclimate once I get back....looking forward to getting involved in some local things.

I also decided that I am going to start driving sooner rather than later.
I'm a good driver, and I'm sure I can learn to deal with being on the other side of the road.

We are going to find somewhere that will give a few lessons to international drivers (can't get a learner's permit without a social).

I am going to get an international driver's permit tomorrow, and I am looking into car insurance that I can actually buy from here.

Anyway....thank you all for thinking of me.

This is strange. I thought I would like being back here for a few days, but not so much. I won't let it stop me from doing what I want though, including going to see the fairy penguins tomorrow night, and a big beach walk on Saturday.

I have one paper book to read, and hundreds of ebooks. I started reading one (an ebook) on my phone on the plane and got some interesting looks...seems like not many people do that.

About to have a shower and head out for a bit.

I slept for 13 hours....it was awesome. Except for the nightmares....especially the one where I woke up terrified not knowing where I was and thought I was in jail. Sheesh.

Huge hugs. ♥

Thanks, Suze. Nice hearing that you're doing O.K. I just had a nightmare too. Going to call my doc. on the morning. Great guy he is. He'll help me! I'm lucky to be as old as I am, and sober for nearly 29.
Sending you a very modest engagement present. Good for a laugh. A hoot. That's what you need. It's English. Thought you and Nick should have something from the "Commonwealth". (There's a fine article about Prince Charles in the New Yorker- pluses and quite a few minuses).
Take it easy ("Enjoi de Liiiife" as a Frenchman said to my mom back in 1943!)
Good idea to have driving lessons in the U.S..I nearly got killed on a roundabout in England back in '78. A toff came in from right, turned left right across my front (being "inside" for about 30 seconds and technically getting the right of way), and immediately turning left again to exit. To avoid him I ended up on the grass in the middle of the circle. Being a "Brit" he probably sarcastically said, "Sorry Yank!"
Sleepy time for me. "But in that sleep... what dreams may come must give us pause!" (Another dreary omelet from Hamlet, the Depressed Dane- Eeyore)

Fondly, Bill.

Fairy Penguins? Sounds Like A. Conan Doyle. Also Beatrice Lillie ("There are fairies in the bottom of my garden!")

I completely agree. I never seem to have fun with nightmares. This may sound peculiar but that's just the way I am. To paraphrase Will Rogers, "I never met a [Nightmare] I didn't [dislike]!"
