24-Hour Recovery Connections Part 21
Glad you asked! It's just something I made up -- it has to do with a book by Charles Stross which of course I've never read called Accelerando (available online at Accelerando - Charlie's Diary) in which there are "uploaded brain-scans of the California spiny lobster looking to escape from humanity's interference". I'm advocating for us all to put our sentiency online now before some other species dominates the post-singularity multiverse.

I've managed to be co-ordinated for once and have uploaded some pics from my recent trip. So, for your viewing pleasure,i.e., if you're bored :

The photos are fascinating and the photoblog is beautifully composed -- thanks, Kaneda! I always meant also to thank you for sharing your daily locations on your travels -- when one of us is traveling, I love to read all the varied landing spots!

Counting down to Halloween night. Coming in at #8 in my top 10 types of monsters, we have invaders from outer space. Any violent, humanity-eradicating extraterrestrial fits this bill, but the classic of the type is the monstrous Martian, maybe first conceived by H.G. Wells in 1897.
The typical extraterrestrial invader, whether from Mars or the far end of the galaxy, is buggy-eyed, has a massive brain, and even now is ordering armies in metal ships with death rays to come to our planet to exterminate or enslave all of humanity.
Don’t trust ET! Don’t! Y’all do know how the Damon Knight story “To Serve Man” turns out, right? If not, be sure to watch this 1962 episode of The Twilight Zone:

On that happy note, it’s time for me to turn into a pumpkin. Provided you don’t open your door to any space monsters, I’ll see you again in about 24 sober hours!
