occasionally I (we) just like to count our days sober - Pt 10
I like Bunny's referring to a morning spent with coffee and a laptop.
Beats crawling around with a parched mouth and a brutal headache.
It takes a lot less these days for me to enjoy myself (coffee and a laptop sound pretty good to me) than it did in the old days when I thought I had to burn a village to have a good time.
As Hank Williams, Jr. writes, cornbread and iced tea took the place of pills and 90 proof.

I've recently realized that being in a state of perma-hangover was almost as bad as being drunk eight hours a day. I thought that I didn't get hangovers and stupidly rationalized this into thinking that drinking wasn't affecting me. I see now that really I was almost permanently hungover, and barely able to function even when I was sober. I always felt horrible in the mornings, and it went on so long that I thought that it was just part of normal life.

17 days is a great start. It takes time, but everything is better sober. I was given some great advice early on. Don't try to "fix" everything immediately. Right now you should only have one priority. To stay sober. You are doing well.
