lonely and unsure
I was home alone and thinking for sure that I can't live the rest of my life like this. It's so painful having a constant struggle going on in my mind. I don't need to drink but then again, I think I can handle it now. It's driving me crazy! Once I found this site and read all the positive, encouraging posts, I actually feel excited about staying sober.
I can totally relate, I feel the same "there's no way I can do this forever" feeling all the time. Two things help: one day at a time and putting faith in those who have long recoveries and promise that it gets better.
Hang in.
Hang in.
Oh my gosh, I could have typed your words!
This is day 3 for me. I too realized I couldn't go on like this forever, and I know this is a progressive disease...and I don't like this direction, so I am going the other way.
I hope we both find SR a good place to be

That's wonderful....
I always regard the name of our disease/illness as, alcohol-ISM'...
Alcohol, being but a symptom, it's the ISM's i.e. life in sobriety that need recognizing and accepting, for without the alcohol, a in sobriety. A new, fresh, more life will open up to you! As it did to many others, including myself. So you're not alone...ever. We're everywhere, on here, A.A. meetings, just out and about, in life...
The fact that you've said you feel excited about leading a sober life is exciting for me to here to! Thank you...It's a good, positive step to take towards perhaps you following the suggested 12 Step program of recovery.
And you're not alone in that either, it;s where millions of others started and still continue to practise them...you get a whole new , more fulfilling life...
It's there for the taking, and you owe it to yourself...
