Power of music

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
--Berthold Auerbach

We may have spiritual experiences in our daily lives that we don't think of as spiritual. For many of us, music lifts us from the practical and mundane circumstances of our lives into communion with the universe. One man may like to listen to country music on the radio, another one might play the piano, and another may go to rock concerts. For each of us, music is a different world from the reasonable, hard data, task-oriented world we usually live in. Music touches our feelings and speaks to us in a special language. It brings us back to special times in the past, perhaps recalls a night of fun and excitement or a person we shared a song with. Music lifts our spirits and opens us to deeper feelings we weren't in touch with. Many of us meet our Higher Power through the music we love.

Today, I will make room for the restorative powers of music in my life.

That's a keeper, thanks Doug.

So true, Doug. Nothing can move me more than hearing a song that reminds me of yester-memories. My mother always had music playing when I grew up and today a silent house is my cue to keep the music going. Today music connects me to my family, my friends and most of all to my own spirit.

Hugs

oh yeah, god lets the notes fly in that heart of mine.

It's a trip to BE in that state of grace.
All fears, judgements, hate, shame, guilt, worries evaporates.
To let go and let it flow through
My guitar is an extension of me, I'm god's instrument.

Music definetly has a place in my life. Sometimes though I just need to shut it off and have my silence. Balance.

I have no zero musical ability. Maybe one day I will learn to play guitar or something. Learning to play something was just not something my parents put any emphisis on.

cause it can take me so high,
Yes it can make me so low."

Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.

Music, a wonderful invention. Chicken soup for the soul. It definitely gets me outside of myself. A good thing to do when you realize the self is your worst enemy in the battle against addiction and vices. I love all music no matter the source.

I love music....
Music has always been a great form of therapy for me,,
Something I really want and need to get back into,,
I used to strap on my walkman,, and headphones,, put on my walk/running
clothes,, and get my german shepard on his leash,, (he passed, I can't do
that part anymore,, ) (but I can make new memories)..
I'd head out, into the night, always the night,, I think better at night,,
and we'd walk, run, walk,,, until we were so pooped we had to come home..

Gosh how special those times were,, I was known in my little village as the girl who
walks/runs her dog all the time, little did they know,,
when "Blaze" and I were walking, I always felt like I was solving the worlds problems,
LOL,,

Am I giving myself to much credit,, Oh well, it felt that way to me,,
But I was solving alot of my own issues,,..

An amazing thing music ( and walking ) can do for you,
I love it!!! Need to start doing it again,,

Thanks for reminding me,,

Love and Prayers,
Becky

Becky, I can relate sort of.

I love to hike while I mull over problems, issues, or even happy thoughts. Mostly for me it's on the Appalachian Trial. And I did it often at night too. It's awesome under the full moon.

Maybe I should get an ipod or something and try it that way.
