1st Sober Launch!

One of the perks of where I live is a beautiful, up close view of the launches from KSC. (it's about 20 miles down the street!)

We're getting ready to step outside and watch the amazing Discovery Lauch........and I realized, in all the time I've lived here, all the different types of launches I've watched in amazement - this will be the first one I've seen without dope running thru my viens.

My guess is, it's gonna be even more majestic, seeing history in the making sober...

Say a prayer for the safe journey for the brave folks onboard Discovery.

30 minutes and they are off to explore the unknown....

Yeah, it was very cool. There's something amazing about watching in happen right in front of you...Our beach was packed, all kinds of people with cameras and radios...we all did the big countdown togther and cheered and cheered as it passed over and above us! Amazing! I was jealous of some of the surfers; the first time I saw a launch, I was on my board, paddling around, then just sitting up, floating around in the ocean, looking up at the launch.
Anyhow, it was fun - I guess the launch went off without a hitch! It was great to be a part of it and be 'all there', instead of some stoner...
Godbless those up in space!

That's awesome, shestruggles! Things look SO different clean/sober, huh?

I remember playing hooky from my high school (as a freshman) just to watch the Shuttle Columbia launch.
