'You have to die a few times, before you can really live'

The above is a quote which really resonates with me, as drinking aside, I've faced a lot of adversity in my life that hasn't all been alcohol induced. In Fact in the most recent in 2016, there wasn't a drop of alcohol insight anywhere...

The following are some of the explanations offered of this quote which also resonate with me and my recovery, as I hope and suspect they will do with all others who read this post...

In other words you can't experience true happiness, without having to go through pure sorrow, without feeling bad.

You can't climb to the top, if there''s no bottom.

You have to go through hard times in your life,to appreciate the good ones.

You won't know greatness when you see it, if you've never seen anything else.

Thanks Redmayne for an extremely insightful post.

Carlingford - The older I get, the wiser I got. I guess it's just part of the journey.

Glad I wasn't born on third base.

I would never know what it is like to struggle and, as a result, not appreciate the blessings I have now, most importantly, of course, my sobriety and my daily relationship with God.

What would Seneca say?

Ignis aurum probat - fire tests gold - adversity tests brave men, and women - Seneca

I have no respect for those who haven't faced adversity and even less time for them.... if, in recovery you can save your own life whilst at the same time help others to save theirs.

What would Seneca say, especially to those who play at life and don't recognise reality until it slams them in the face?
