Getting your feet wet ...
Heraclitus said,'No man steps in the same river twice' making the point that in a river as in life self, no one and nothing stands still...but you still get your feet wet!
In recovery I equate this to the fact that the name of my disease is alcohol-ISM, the alcohol being but a symptom, the -ISM's being learning to live in life itself ...
Which as I prepare to enter my seventh decade later this year, is, in similar terms, like living in a different country... which brings about, almost of its own accord, helped by those two most important components of recovery, recognition and acceptance. A change of perception both of the world around me and myself.
Making me think that sometimes getting your feet wet is no bad thing ...how about you?
