Procrastinating

Tomorrow I'll go to a meeting is what i keep saying to myself. When tomorrow comes I'm too tired or i dont need a meeting, or i'm not a good mood etc... When i do go to a meeting which is rarely i always feel better afterwords.Its crazy that i know what i have to do but just cant get myself to do it.

apathy is a problem for a lot of us Bee, especially in early recovery.
I made lists and prioritised - then tried to do the things I knew I needed to.

welcome to SR

Don't knock procrastination. It prevents a lot of homicides and suicides.

Hi Bee, welcome. I had to force myself to get out in early recovery. Think of how good you will feel. The sense of pride and accomplishment. Best wishes.

II'm gradually making myself do things, even if I don't want to. Usually I'm glad I did afterwards.

BEE, have you heard of Parkinsons Law on procrastination?

"Delay is the deadliest form of denial". Great subject for meditation.

Bee;
Try turning your procrastination around. Try saying to yourself, "Tomorrow I'll have a drink, but today I'll go to a meeting. Do not wait for the restlessness, irritablity and discontentment to take hold, for then you maybe to far gone. Get yourself to a meeting and share your feelings with someone there that you trust, regardless of how you feel. Nothing, absolutely nothing can affect an alcoholic more than sharing with another alcoholic. That is just the way of it, it works!
