Your counselor is DEAD WRONG! That is one of many programs out there. Find the one that works for you.

Yes, your counselor is wrong - there are many different ways to be in recovery and the twelve steps is only one of them. Maybe your particular rehab is an AA only organization? Many rehabs have it as an optional part of a general program.
