The Montage Thread!

The "addiction song" thread gave me a great idea. I thought we could compile a list of some empowering montage songs from our favorite movies and various other places. I'll start.

Your The Best-Joe Esposito (The Karate Kid)
Rocky Montage

This should be interesting.

I really don't know what a montage is. The theme song?

The montage is where they are doing something in the movie but they don't want to take the time to explain it so they put music over it and fast forward through. Like in Karate Kid, towards the end when he is whipping every bodies ass while they are playing "Youur the best arrouuunddd, noo one's gonna keeep ya down!" Its usually upbeat and inspirational.

It's one straight shot, from start to finish, but I think the school walkthrough from Donnie Darko (Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels") is one of the most amazing cinematic musical pieces I've ever seen.

Everything happens in that one shot - every single character is introduced, the echoes of the characters' emotions timed with the music and lyrics, the whole impression left me breathless. When I first saw it, I watched it over and over again, and that's never happened before.

BUT for the sake of the Montage, I'd say "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera from Karate Kid II was also up there, as was Bryan Adams' song from Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves.

LOL
