Does sugar really help withdrawl?
In my experience, no. - But, if it helps go for it. Heck, it's still candy!
The bad news is that this is going to suck for a while.
The good news is that you never have to feel this way ever again. - Ever.
I've been able to stay clean from painkillers and everything else for a while now due to Narcotics Anonymous. I have ups and downs emotionally, but I haven't felt truly hopeless, empty and broken in a long time. I don't worry about getting dopesick.
(and yes, occasionally I eat some candy).

I dont know if it helps..it makes me happier than no sugar. From what I understand opiates and opioids cause your sugar to drop and I know thats all I want are copious amounts os anything sweet.
I've actually heard sugar is bad while in WD but not in my experience Ben n jerry done wonders for me in early recovery I still have it occasionally as it's that good

Sugar that's in natural sources such as fruit, plain greek yogurt, vegetables, and whatever else are all good and encouraged during withdrawals. Sugar from candy, chocolate, and other things like that is generally a bad idea, causes crashes, erratic mood swings, unhealthy weight gain, and is ultimately just feeding into another addiction. Sugar is very addictive and i notice i am better off cutting out the unnatural stuff(as much as i love it). All that said, during the initial bad physical withdrawals, do whatever it takes to keep you from using(try to eat healthy if you can). Don't be too strict during this period just get through it however you can, just don't let bad habits follow you after the physical symptoms stop.
