I know for myself...my recovery is successful as long as I just keep the needle out of my arm one day at a time...

I have taken in lot's o'chit never injected but, I know people who have gotten clean> There are people here who have gotten clean after having used spikes (as they were called years ago). You can do anything you really want to do. You are the one in control of you. If you can't do it on your own then get someone to help you through or, go to inpatient rehab if you really want to be clean. Just do what it will take. lot's of prayer going out for you.

I have been totally clean & sober since 8/23/97. IV drugs, anything at all....mainly heroin IV was my drug of choice.
Gotta get sick & tired of being sick & tired ENOUGH to become willing to do whatever it takes to NOT use or drink.

I know it can be done it just seems like everyone in the area i live that I've met in recovery didn't use iv and anyone they know who did always feel back into it.. i dunno.. just scared that ill never have an outlet and the one ive always known was killing me. thank you

yeah this is my 3rd try.. the first two i last a couple days and than a couple hours.. I just needed to see the support.. I know it can be done just don't know anyone who has successfully done it... thank you

Sammy, I was an IV user (Oxycontin and heroin were my DOC) and I am just coming up to 100 days now. I can't say that I have been successful (I am so hard on myself) but I have been totally clean and sober since then and that's a miracle for me. This is my fourth try too.

In my area, there are a great many NA members who have extensive years (15 or more) clean and they were IV heroin addicts. My first sponsor was a heroin addict (IV) and he's still clean with 16 years under his belt. Recovery is possible for anyone... regardless of DOC. I'm sure meeting someone in recovery that has been "successful" at staying clean from the same drug you used could help you identify and give you hope, but please be aware that the drugs we used (and/or different combinations of them) isn't what hinders us from recovery. Recovery begins with a desire to stop using and we follow up that desire with honesty, open-mindedness and a willingness to try what works for others. Focusing on our differences won't help.

I used needles from the age of 15 ....and i have'nt put one in my body for a good few years now ...!
I did'nt stop usein when my Veins dissapeard tho ..I carried on ...Until i just could'nt take it no more ...and I was totally addicted to the point of Havein a needle fixation .!
Its Like Sugah said ....you Just gotta want it MORE than Anything ...!!!!
The Joureny starts with you ....NOT wanting to do it anymore ...!
Yes you can leave that behind and find a new Life ...!
Just want it more than ANYTHING ....for yourself ..!

My sister is 5 years clean and was heavy IV user (Heroin) and also abused OxyC. She relapsed just once after her first rehab, and went again that time staying 90 days. Her sponsor has 18 years off IV Heroin!
There were many times I didn't think my sister wouldn't recover (3 OD's, 2 resussitations) But she has made ENOURMOUS changes in her life.

I was an IV heroin addict. Haven't touched heroin in almost 3 1/2 years. I've been free from opiates for almost 2 years. I spent that year and a half between at a methadone clinic.
