Forgiving Ourselves this Weekend - Weekenders 20 - 23 September 2019
A few quotes from a greek who had good ideas to say goodnight
“He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have.”
"The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less."
"Do not do to others what angers you if done to you by others."
I have a propensity towards philosophy from time to time and especially when bouncing back from a relapse.
Weird.

That’s right Marty. Once I had been told I was being terminated I initially was going to work the notice period as was told it was budgetary. Then found out they had told a load of lies to the resourcing department and were being difficult when I was just trying to get on with my work. They also offered me up as someone who would sit in 4 exec meetings lasting 3 hours each to take minutes and actions which they know is a really crappy thing to do to anyone in my position. I decided I was not putting up with lies, difficult and unnecessary behaviour and they could do the crap jobs themselves. I am lucky I am in a position to choose as I am financially stable, there are others that would have had to stay and be bullied as they couldn’t afford to not.
Yesterday I was a mess and it’s mind blowing how I was really considering drinking! I think after 16 month sober the “I wasn’t really that bad, I’m not a proper alcoholic just got into a bad place, I can just do this once and won’t end up like I was” thoughts do creep in and my last drunk was so far away now it’s more difficult to remember how I felt back then or how bad it really was. It’s comical in some ways that I was telling myself getting drunk just once isn’t the end of the world and it would be fine whilst planning to turn my phone off and get all my computer equipment and put the lot in the car so I couldn’t call anyone or do something stupid like sending angry emails etc. I mean that is proof right there I am not a normal drinker as a normal drinker wouldn’t have to do that.
Thanks for being here everyone x

MantaLady I’m pleased you’re feeling better today.
Vman I like the sayings. Words of wisdom.
Saou I hope the weekend comes quickly for you. It’s horrible when work drags especially if it is stressful.

Way to go Manta, proud of you. They can take that job and shove it you know where, heheheh. To all the other weekenders, a break from work is only two days away now. Been a long one up here and looking forward to having some time to do things the fam would like to do.

Morning Weekenders
Saou, that’s good news indeed, I hope it takes off in England.
My ‘get up and go’ seems to have left me for now. Not sure if it’s the darker mornings but I haven’t much enthusiasm for anything. Having a roast chicken dinner later so hopefully that will lift my mood.
Have a good day. X
