So I am quitting drinking. Its hell, but thats what I expected. But I am also thinking of quitting smoking because there are alot of companies that are giving preemployment nicotine testing. Does anyone know how long it would take for me to be able to pass a standard test? By standard I mean not a hair test. Im not looking to attempt to change jobs but set myself up for dissappointment.

Well done for quitting drinking! I'm not of any help as far as advice on testing. I never heard of nicotine tests before. Do they give you a full physical? I'm guessing it's a health related position or something like that? Where I am in Canada I've never heard of a single person being drug tested, ever, but I know it's common in the States.

I'm on day four not smoking, not counting half a cigarette yesterday. Overall it's not as bad as it has been in the past. Did you read the stickies? I think it's there that they discuss quitting drinking and smoking at the same time. I wish I'd ripped the band aid off when I quit pot all those months ago because here I am in withdrawal city for the second time. At least this is easier.
