Question Ultram for Hydrocodone W/D?...

Hey Ya'll:

My blood pressure shot way up and I contacted my Dr to let her know I quit the hydrocodone. She Rx'ed me Ultram, (4) 50 miligram tablets a day. The 'script is for 120 with 2 refills.

She didnt say how long Im suppose to do this. Has anyone ever known of a Dr using Ultram and xanax for withdrawal from hydrocodone?

I need to know if this sounds right or not.

I am aware of both of the drugs, their risk of addiction, that you cant drop off xanax. Im good to go with the knowledge of the drugs.

My guestions is more in regards to the method she is chosing to detox me now that I am having blood pressure issues.

Hi,
Just thought I would say hi, and offer some encouragement.

I'm certainly not a professional, but very familiar with Ultram (take it for extremity pain myself, but must be very careful with it, makes me very hyper) and know most pain meds and how people get off of them. Not easy. I have been in the surgical and pain field for over 15 years. I think the dr is using the Ultram for a couple of reasons, but by all means ASK THEM!! It has 3 compents to it: pain, anti-inflamatory, and serotonin uptake in it. Double check me on this, I have been out of the pain clinic for a couple of years, but we used it to help people get off of the stronger pain meds. Some people can eat it like candy, others are very sensitive to it. Myself, can only tolerate a small amount. "I think" the dr is using the Xanax for the withdrawal. , I was addicted to Xanax, and I NEVER want to EVER go there again, so please be careful. I used to tell my patients All the time, ASK THE DOCTOR these questions specifically, and don't be afraid to ask. We really have to take our own health concerns in our hands and make sure we are doing the right thing. Research it, email, and talk to anyone and everyone you know about how and what you need to do. Get professional help doing this. I am in the process of coming of Klonazepam, and it is SOOOOOO hard, must go extremely slow. I can only cut it an 1/8 at a time, and just that little bit stresses me out, been on it for years, and hate the time and the frustration, but want back to work bad, so hanging in there!

Good luck to you!

Can you tell me if I can only take it 50 miligrams 4 times a day for two weeks with NO withdrawal? Just to get me over this hurdle.

Ultram

I really can't tell you want to take and what to expect. I would work with someone that I can talk to (doctor, specialist) ASK them questions, make sure they are ANSWERING your questions, and then I can only recommend that you listen to your body, and educate, educate, educate yourself. I would also encourage you to find a support system or group while you are going through this. I know it helps me to come here and read, but I really need to see the whites of someone's eyes and talk about it!

Good luck, I hope you do okay with your changes!

Beachbabe,
I am comming off of Ultram (aka Tramadol), and was addicted to these for 5 YEARS. When my husband confronted me in September, I was up to 15-20 a day. I was taking 5 at a time. He told me if I didnt straighten out things would be over between us. He had no idea how many I was taking, I was very secretive. I tapered down gradually with my doctors help. He also perscribed me Wellbutrin to help any withdrawls I had. I have depression as well. I was clean for 3 days when I found out more had been delivered (from an online pharmacy which I had called and cancelled the order weeks ago but they didnt cancel it) to a UPS station. I couldnt help myself and went and got them. I shouldve let them get sent back, that wouldve been the right thing to do, but the little voice in my head, said "theres only 60, go get them and then you'll be done for good". I gave in. My husband does not know about this. ULTRAM IS ADDICTING AND SOME WEBSITES CLAIM IT IS NOT, BUT IT DEFINITELY IS. PLEASE be careful with these, the effects are VERY similar to hydrocodone. I am now on day 2 AGAIN. I stayed away from this site for a couple weeks because I felt like a phony. Ive been very moody, up and down. One minute I feel good, next minute life seems horrible. Glad to see from your other postings, that you are doing well. Im looking forward to feeling good, without the help of pills, for the first time in 5 years.
