Grateful
Grateful
I just need to remind myself of some of the things i am grateful for , sorry for the grammatical mistakes because English is not my first language.
I am an alcoholic, my mother died at the age of 51 from smoking and by the looks of it i am not just an alcoholic i am a very bad one at that , not a functioning one but a one who sees no improvement in my condition even after 7 months of sobriety and i literally can see no way out.
At the same time i have a house , a warm home ( too warm these days ) a loving family and i always love to think of this picture

It reminds me how hundreds of millions of people live , with all my problems am still luckier than most people and i really need this boost right now , just being able to use the internet puts me in the top 10% at least , anyway that's all i had to say even though i could say a lot more , quitting sis not the answer , because people are going through much worse every second of every day.

We are not "bad", dear Laza. Alcoholism is a disease.
You are trying your BEST to be sober, and that is the very best thing you can do for yourself.
I am super proud of you for working through all of this. ❤️

Hey Laza
very welcome
Your english is amazing...understood perfectly
all we can do is try, im having a hard day today myself but this too shall pass. Tomorrow will be better.
seven months is amazing, I had to learn to pick up hobbies i used to like or new ones, alcohol takes so much.
How about a jigsaw, book, a puzzle or some gardening, even weeding, a bit at a time, its better than sitting with the bottle.
you are doing amazing at seven months. Well done

I’d give it more time Laza.
We drank for decades some of us.
We didn’t become alcoholics over night and for some of us, with things like PAWs, our recovery may take a little longer than we want it to.
Don’t give into the idea this is the best you’re going to get…things will, and do, keep improving so long as we stay away from the drink

This is learning the habit of gratitude. I can be easy to overlook many good things as if we are automatically entitled to them, and only things like winning the lottery are worthy of gratitude. Recognizing the good should be one of the goals of sobriety.
