Mosquitoes

Right at 7 months sober and have noticed that now sober mosquitoes 🦟 are eating me up. I use to never get bitten by mosquitoes . What’s the science ? Is it the ethanol?

I don't know, but I do know the reactions of insects to me have changed over the years. And it may be that the insects themselves are evolving into something even more annoying. Ticks seem to have become more vicious and determined this year. Even after treating my outdoor gear with Permethrin a couple of days ago, I've already pulled two blood sucking ticks off my body, and am currently treating 6 chigger bites. Permethrin has always been 100% effective against ticks, chiggers, and mosquitoes, so I'm as perplexed as you are.

Ahahaha oh man I've noticed the same thing! I never put it together before. Even the bugs think we're gross when were drinking!

Me too, haha - something's been biting me the past two nights, not even humid here where I am.

Could it be that lowliest of vermin are smart enough not to drink poison?

This could be a whole new argument for our Alcoholic Voices; "I drink to keep from being bitten by insects."

Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude

Haha

I have and will continue to be an insect attractant. Mosquitos have me anemic within 5 minutes of exposure. Drunk only made unconcerned of the bug-bait I am.

Think of the MERSA superbug. Pesticide resistant type mosquitoes evolve with overuse of bug repel.

The great Sir David Attenborough said that the mosquito was the most dangerous creature on the planet.

Far be it from me to question the word of the great man but I wouldn't fancy trying to despatch a Polar Bear or a Crocodile with a rolled up copy of the Hackney Gazette.

In sheer numbers of death and debilitating disease, mosquitoes RULE.

So they bite, itch, kill, annoy, and give our AV yet another ridiculous excuse!!!

Are they exceptional pollinators? I feel like there has to be something redeeming…..

Good one, Saoutchik.

I noticed fleas & flies wanted nothing to do with me when I quit. There's definitely something to this.

I suspect the little blighters can detect subtle emanations from our skin, that may change depending upon what we ingest, or abstain from.
