Read this if you feel down today !
Hello,
I have nine plus years sober and let me tell you. Today used to be the worst day of my life. Oh don't get me wrong I was excited as you can be and couldn't wait until I could open my first beer. I usually couldn't make it past 6 pm and by 9 pm I was usually so drunk that I started having memory lapses or blackout. What a pitiful way of living. Nowadays, I don't partake in any kind of celebrations. Today is just like any other day. Yes I'm off work and I enjoy it but I go about my day like any other day. Does that sound depressing to you. Well, it' snot to me. It's great and I have zero anxiety and I might just go to bed at my regular time. If you are an active drinker who have a problem with drinking. Ask me tomorrow how I feel. I'm probably out hiking somewhere when a lot of other people are either home feeling awful, in jail due to drunk driving or something worse, or waking up somewhere they don't even know where it is. Have a good one everyone and trust me. You are not missing out on anything by ignoring the whole debacle.

Yeah I didn’t particularly even like New Year’s Eve but I went out year after year after year cos it was an opportunity to get drunk. I’m way happier just hitting the sheets

I watched the Sydney Fireworks on TV. If you've seen one you've seen them all.
One good bit saw all fireworks dimmed out. In their place stood what looked to be last burning embers of a fire over the landscape. Looked like the aftermath of a city on fire. Was done well.
After that was happy to hit the sack. Only got to scratch the surface of nye celebrations in any city to find the dark side of alcohol. Woke this morning grateful for sobriety.
