Feeling a bit proud of myself.

Here in Denmark we celebrate on the 24th. This year is the first in probably 40 years were i haven`t had a drink. All around me were drinking and i stuck to soda. Proud me

The holidays used to be a drunken blur. My health would be in the toilet. Blood pressure, sleep issues, and low immunity. Mixed with drunken binge eating of sweets.

I would probably be drunk right now.

I would not have survived the first year of covid anyway.

Totally relate.

Great for you!

Thanks.

As for pride in self, that is one of the more profound experiences I've had in recovery. I have often reflected in how proud I am to be sober, and have been not a little surprised at how good pride can be. As one of the 7 deadly sins, pride needs a little more context than just a sanctimonious sound bite in someones sin list. Pride can be good and bad, but before running from it, one needs to understand what healthy pride is.
