Coming up on 1000 days...
...booze free. My life has changed for the better in every imaginable way. This forum was instrumental in helping me start on my path and I'll always be grateful for that. To those out there thinking of starting a new sober life I can't recommend it enough. It will be hard, it will seem impossible at times, but you can get sober and stay sober.

I offer this just as a boost to those that think you can't get sober when life is really difficult. I quit drinking 2 months before COVID started shutting everything down. My wife quit with me (she's still sober as well) and we just hunkered down and learned healthy new habits. Since then I've had numerous major family issues (ranging from divorce & DUI to cancer) and sobriety has helped me to get through them all. If I can do this then anyone can at least have some hope of doing the same. I am no super hero.

Thank you for posting this! I, too, quit during the pandemic (May 2020). I was able to work from home for a long time, and saw it as a very rare opportunity to have a chance I might never have again. In this way, I have felt better during the pandemic than I ever have in my life. I know some celebrities have done this as well (Brad Pitt comes to mind). Like you, my life has changed in every conceivable way!!
