Day 1
I can relate to your feeling of sadness as I have way more day ones in my past history than I could begin to count; however feel glad that you have decided not to drink today. That is a courageous step towards a better life. Towards a life you deserve.
Notice I said that my numerous day ones are in my past history, not my present. My last day one was March 22, 2003. I had no idea at that time that it was indeed my last day one, but I committed, gained traction, and kept plugging forward.
This can be your last day one. I managed to do it after countless false starts. So can you! I believe in you because of the courage you are showing. Commit, gain traction, and keep plugging forward. Let this become your past history!

Day 1 is good because it means you are beginning a new path.
Make the scenery on this path different and things will be different. If it starts to look like you have done it before with no success...change your steps.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
