Dee I Never want to go through this again
I'm so glad you've got a plan to stop, KTB.
Is it possible you can transfer to inpatient after your detox? It sounds like you might need to get stabilized with your meds... I can't recommend highly enough doing an inpatient stay if you can. Being removed from temptation can be a lifesaver, and being looked after can be so comforting...
We care, even while Dee is sleeping.

As they say, trying to get rid of this demon through sheer willpower is not going to work. Willpower just buckles when wine o clock arrives and AV starts brainwashing. You need to have a solid plan to go thru this most uncomfortable time day after day until AV weakens.
It was very difficult for me to go beyond few days when I was trying out to moderate as moderation was a crack in my plan. Find additional cracks in your system ("I think I can now drink safely" / "one day per week won't do no harm" / "social drinking alone from here on") and patch them up. AV is the slimiest thing in the world that will come through the smallest cracks. Do not negotiate with AV for whatsoever reason - don't acknowledge it, don't talk to it, don't even visualize a glass of your favorite drink. Just ignore and move on , you will be fine. Believe it or not, even looking at a beer ad makes me drool.

KTB - So sorry for what you're going through - but be proud you've made the crucial decision to get free.
Hope you'll check in regularly for support & encouragement. We all understand, like no one else can.

It was one am my time when you posted so I’ve only just seen this KTB
Detox is a good start
Taking your meds is vital tho…it’s a fundamental part of staying strong and focused against addiction.
When I quit I committed to one thing not drinking again and doing everything in my power not to drink again,
It seemed superhuman the first day but it did get easier from there because I’d committed to something.
For me, that involved a lot of posting here, for others it’s things like AA or SMART or Rational Recovery…
Are you considering rehab as well KTB?
