Things aren’t good
Will be starting or rather stopping again tomorrow… Things aren’t good at the moment, I’ve been in total denial. I hope to use this thread as a diary especially as Christmas is nearly upon us and temptation is everywhere I look. BBT
Good to see you, Franky. I was in denial for many years - I caused myself so much needless misery. It was very difficult to dig my way out of the mess I made. You can stop & have a whole new life. I'm so glad you came back to talk about this & share what you're going through. We care.
Franky, denial is a huge part of alcoholism. I was in total denial, too. I really believed I could quit anytime I wanted, but it turned out I was wrong about that. We do understand and you will find lots of support here.
Denial- it was my BFF. It took a little while to be able to look back and see how OK I was NOT.... My drunken self thought I was handling everything so peachily. But no, not the case at all. Good for you getting started and moving forward, I'll be here right along side of you! You can do it, Franky.

I couldn't stay sober till I realized and accepted the following two things:
1. There is a type of alcoholic who can only stay sober by fully committing the program of recovery set forth in Alcoholics Anonymous.
2. I am that type of alcoholic.

Great to see you back Franky. Tell us how things are going. Try to remember that booze is in our faces 24/7/365. Nothing unique, really, about the Silly Season. I think our nag-headed heads try to convince us that 'tis the season to be jolly and drink. And that really is as much of a fiction during Christmas as it is the other seasons and months of the year. Stay sober Franky.
