Day 25 and Im noticing…
So Im on day 25 (thank the Gods), and I am noticing little things changing. All good, nothing bad. For example, over the past year or two I had noticed some tiny skin tags coming up in my scalp… I had about 9 of them, but as of today all but two are basically gone, and the two that remain are almost imperceptible. I still had them a mere 2 weeks ago! Just 25 days of sobriety to get rid of that??? Seriously???? Im giddy, I shouldve done this years ago lol… also, I work behind a computer most of the day and I am not experiencing near the eyestrain I was the last year or so. Im elated at these changes. Lost some weight too, about 3.5 pounds in 25 days, and I will take it. Just really good news today! Hope you all are doing wonderful! I come here every day and you all “juice me up” with your stories and words of wisdom and encouragement. You are all carrying me thru this and I just want to thank you. I figured Id be dead once before I ever got this far, and it helps just knowing you all are there, so thank you all!

Good on you, snowy. You’ve got through those grim first weeks and are now seeing the benefits. They’ll keep on coming. Remember that complacency is the root of all evil (to mix up a few half forgotten phrases 😝 ). There’ll come a time when you’ll wonder if it’s OK to have a drink again. I’ve spent ages researching boring medical studies about problem drinkers (us) trying to moderate or drink sensibly or occasionally. Every single one failed. Keep on doing what you’re doing 👍🙂

Thanks so much!! Your post reminded me of a conversation I had with my psychiatrist, talking about that side of my mind that after a few days of sobriety would start to say “head on back to the store, and just get a couple beers, we can moderate this time for sure”… luckily here lately the rational side of my mind is more involved and says “look man, we have already ran this experiment a thousand times, in a thousand different ways, and it doesnt work”. I feel like I have FINALLY got it buried in the ground for good this time though. I had been weaning for well over a year with progressively smaller amounts, and longer periods between so, fingers and toes crossed, Im finally doing it. I took a deep breath November 6 and jumped into sobriety. So far, so good! Best wishes my friend!!
keep posting, snowy. Your positivity will inspire others.

[QUOTE=Surrendered19;7732142]Lots of great healing takes place in 25 days Snowboarder. It just gets better and better too. Nice work and let's keep walking this road together for good.[/QUOTE
and also what we don’t see. My fatty liver cleared up within months, and the only lifestyle change I’d made in that time was to quit alcohol. The effects on blood pressure, resting heart rate and who knows what else are astounding. I wear a fitness tracker watch, and as I run a lot, my resting heart rate is around 50 beats per minute. When I had a boozy holiday in 2018, it went up to 58 and stayed that way for a few days after. That’s quite shocking. The strain on a drinker’s heart is clear.
