Day 7 and Blood Work

So my labs have been ordered since May but I haven’t had the nerve to go do it. I’m on day 7 today and just got it done! I’m sure I won’t know anything until Monday but glad I got it over with. Whew.

Congrats on your week Jillian. Hope the results are better than you fear - they usually are

Great job Jillian, in facing your fear! I have put them off for months before.

I've had some pretty ugly liver function test labs. If I hadn't been sober for 7 1/2 out of the past 8 months I'd probably jaundiced or dead by now.

Good for you for making yourself go get them done. It's hard but then you'll have a starting off point to see improvement after more days sober. Great job 7 days!!

One week is a great achievement! Good idea to get the bloodwork done. It's good to have a baseline, even if the results aren't ideal.

I’m so glad you faced your fears. The best part is if you stay sober you won’t have to be so worried about your next set

Well done. I feel like getting medical treatment is such a big hurdle… and such an important one. How are you doing today?

Results came back normal except high cholesterol so that’s good. But I’m back to day one 😣

Sorry to hear, glad you posted. What happened Jillian? Was it the relief at the labs? It's important to figure it out.

I have done that countless times myself - just have to get back on the horse. You can totally do it if you want, but as you have seen it becomes a mental game once we get past the physical withdrawal, and the AV always tells us we can drink moderately.

By the way, great book Alcohol Explained by William Porter, discusses all this. Good luck Jillian.

I drank the day after I gave blood so I think I drank in anticipation of bad results. Silly right? But I’ve picked myself back up, went to AA, will be doing loads of reading, posting here, eating healthy and best of all, my husband has agreed for the first month of my sobriety to have no alcohol in the house whatsoever and he will remain abstinent as well. I called today and made a counseling appt. I’m also going to call an outpatient facility and enroll once my son starts school so I will be able to commit to 3 days a week.

Glad you went and got this done. I've been putting off my ECG. Maybe some day I'll actually get it.
